Join a 3-day, 2-night journey along the legendary Mahakam River, starting and ending in Balikpapan. This trip takes you through charming wooden villages, serene river landscapes, and traditional Dayak culture. From spotting wildlife along the riverbanks to witnessing local dances in Mancong Village, every moment is filled with adventure and authenticity. Staying at local guest houses and traveling by motorized canoe, this experience offers a unique blend of cultural immersion and natural exploration in East Kalimantan.

ITINERARY

DAY 01          BALIKPAPAN – TENGGARONG – KOTA BANGUN – MAHAKAM RIVER – MUARA MUNTAI (L, D)
Pick-up service form your Hotel at 09.00 am, meet with our guide. Direct transfer to the Kota Bangun for approx 6 hours. Take a motorized canoe to go along Mahakam river, arrive in Muara Muntai wooden village and stay at local guest house. Accommodation at local guest house dinner at local restaurant.

DAY 02          MUARA MUNTAI – MANCONG – TANJUNG ISUY (B, L, D)
Take simple breakfast. We will sightseeing Muara Muntai village. Afterward, take a motorized canoe to Mancong village before that we will see Jempang lake and Ohong creek where there are proboscis monkeys, snakes and bird species. Arrive at Mancong and welcomed by dance performance. Continue to Tanjung Isuy for staying one night. Accommodation at local guest house, dinner at local restaurant.

DAY 03         TANJUNG ISUY – MELAK – KERSIK LUWAI – EHENG – JANTUR INAR (B, L, D)

Breakfast at local guest house then upstream by motorized canoe to Muara Pahu then heading to Melak for about maximum 4 hours by motorized canoe. Lunch on route and explore Melak to visit orchid protection forest at Kersik Luwai then heading to traditional longhouses of dayak tribe at Eheng then for last destination in Melak which is Jantur Inar waterfall. Dinner. Overnight at Melak.

DAY 04       LINGGANG MELAPEH – TABALAS WATERFALL – ACO LAKE – MAHAKAM RIVER – SAMARINDA (B, L, D)

Breakfast at hotel and check out. Transfer to Linggang Melapeh about 30 minutes, visit Dayak Tunjung Rentenuukng Longhouse, Coffee Farm, then continue to Aco Lake. Return to Melapeh Villages and lunch en route, then spending time at Tabalas Waterfall. In the evening return to Melak, transfer to traditional harbour to on board public river taxi. Downstream to Samarinda in one-night trip. Accommodation at river ferry (public houseboat) meals prepared.

DAY 05          MAHAKAM RIVER – SAMARINDA – BALIKPAPAN (B, L)

Arrived Samarinda at midday and depart for overland to Balikpapan. Drop to your Hotel / accommodation. TOUR END

Note:

  • All booking to be made either by email.
  • A 100% deposited of total calculated tour price, to be paid at thirty (30) days before arrival, by transfer. Price subject to change.

CANCELLATIONS

Cancellation charges may occur for transport, carriers, accommodation, restaurant, guide booking, correspondence costs and other component that use on the program, this fee should be charged to the clients. Cancellation only allowed before the date of arrival or starting date.

REFUND

There will be no refund since the arrival date.

RESPONSIBILITY

Every participant shall be regarded in every respect as carrying his/her own risk with respect to loss or injury to person or property. We do not accept responsibility for losses or expenses result.

LIABILITY

We act as intermediary for transport carriers, accommodation, restaurant and other component that use during the program, assumes no responsible for any delay, change of schedules, loss, damage, injury, theft, accident, and irregularity.

Due to all causes beyond the program, we reserve the right, without penalty, to alter itineraries or program.

What to bring:

Travel bag, rain coat, suntan lotion, hat, T-Shirt, paddling/beach sandals, comfortable walking/trekking shoes with extra socks, binocular, flash light with extra bulb and batteries, camera, towels, personal medicine, for souvenirs and other personal expenses please bring Rupiah.
