Tour Description

The 3D2N Malahoi and Toyoi Long House Tour offers an authentic Dayak cultural experience, combined with orangutan encounters, jungle trekking, and traditional village life in the heart of Borneo.

Malahoi and Toyoi Long House are traditional Dayak settlements in Central Kalimantan, where local communities preserve ancestral customs, longhouse architecture, and cultural rituals that have been passed down for generations.

If you’re looking for an authentic cultural experience in the heart of Borneo, the 3D2N Malahoi/Toyoi Long House Tour is the perfect choice. This journey will take you deep into Dayak tribal life, provide a chance to see orangutans, and allow you to enjoy the natural beauty of Central Kalimantan.

Day 1: Palangka Raya – Orangutan – Tumbang Malahoi (LD)

Upon arrival at the airport or designated meeting point, we begin our tour with a visit to Balanga Museum, where you can learn about the history and culture of the Dayak people—from pregnancy rituals and marriage traditions to funeral ceremonies. Next, we head to Arboretum Tangkiling to learn about the history of Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF).

From there, we take a kelotok (wooden boat) to Kaja Island to observe orangutans in their training ground before being released into the wild. After approximately 2 hours of sightseeing, we continue our journey to Tumbang Malahoi Long House, a 3-4 hour drive with a lunch stop at a local restaurant. Upon arrival, you’ll explore the traditional longhouse and visit sandung, a sacred bone house where the remains of Dayak ancestors are kept in accordance with the Kaharingan religion.

Day 2: Toyoi Long House – Tumbang Malahoi (BLD)

After breakfast, we go on a 15 km jungle trek behind the longhouse to observe local activities such as rubber tapping and ironwood (ulin) exploration. You’ll also have the opportunity to witness traditional gold mining and even try it yourself.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional Dayak dance performance and join the Manari Manasai dance, a welcoming ritual that symbolizes togetherness and good fortune.

Day 3: Tumbang Malahoi – Petuk Katimpun – Palangka Raya (BL)

After a simple breakfast, we begin our 3-4 hour journey back to Palangka Raya. Before returning to the city, we make a stop at Petuk Katimpun, a fishermen’s village where you’ll witness another traditional dance performance and have the opportunity to donate to the local children’s library.

The tour concludes with a transfer to your hotel or airport for your late afternoon flight.
